Digital Conference | January 12–15, 2021

Celebrating intersection and cultivating community for Black Queer excellence in science.

Join us for 3 days of discussions and panels on topics ranging from facing adversity, fostering community, and creating institutional change to scientific seminars on physics, biochemistry and more, featuring Black Queer scientists and allies from around the world and hosted by trans activist, entertainer and Black Queer Town Hall co-founder Peppermint.

Group Panels with Peppermint

Join us on January 12th to kick off the conference with industry-wide group panels hosted by trans activist and entertainer, Peppermint.

Facing Adversities

Hear about the panelists struggles in their journey to becoming scientists in the face of racism and homophobia, both in and out of the workplace. We’ll delve into imposter syndrome, health inequities, the importance of representation in science, the COVID vaccine, and also micro and macro aggressions.

Increasing Representation

Learn how insitutions can share the responsibility to make STEM more equitable. We’ll discuss the importance of allyship, why it's important for allies to be vocal, how to navigate concealing your Queerness in a place when you do not feel safe, but not the color of their skin, and discuss the importance of mental health and being your authentic self.

Fostering Community

Come together to learn how we can foster community among Black Queer folks in the public and private sectors. Discuss ways mentors and bosses, who may or may not be Black and/or Queer, can help to foster community when there is none. Learn how institutions can invest in this aspect and how that impacts the success of Black and queer students.
